The Lummi girls' basketball team lost at Cedar Park Christian 45-34 on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in Mountlake Terrace.
"The players really stepped up and started to have faith in themselves," Lummi coach Woody Bakke said in a phone interview. "They started to be aggressive and it really opened they eyes. They checked their attitude at the door and after the game they talked about what a difference that made."
The Blackhawks were led by Dawn James, who scored 17 points.
"Dawn played a great game of total offense," Bakke said. "She saw first-hand what a difference it makes to be a team player. To summarize the game in a few words would be: a great awakening."
Lummi travels to Tulalip Heritage on Friday, Dec. 14.
