Lions sweep relay events in boys' swim win over Red Raiders

The Lynden boys' swim team swept the relays and defeated Bellingham 113-57 in a Northwest Conference meet on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

The win improved the Lions to 1-1 while the Red Raiders dropped to 1-1.

"The kids did really well," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. "They showed good effort."

Lynden's 200 medley relay team of Jeffrey Propersi, Bryton Snavely, Jan Wolfisberg and Lorenzo Perez won in a time of 1 minute, 52.4 seconds. The Lions also won the 200 freestyle relay with Giovanni Galarza, Grant Williams, Brian Anker and Gianluca Calzavara (1:47.6) and the 400 freestyle relay with Propersi, Robby Knapp, Galarza and Williams (3:52.5).

Propersi also won the 100 backstroke while Wolfisberg was first in the 100 breastroke.

Bellingham had two swimmers win two events. Martin Slolely won the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle while teammate Logan Dozal took first in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.
