The Nooksack Valley boys' basketball team fought back to take a lead but was unable to hold on in a 72-60 non-conference loss to visiting Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
The Pioneers (0-5) were down for much of the game but took a 58-57 lead with three minutes remaining. The Cubs (4-1) responded by forcing turnovers and hitting 3-point shots to pull away and win by 12.
"It was a game of runs," Nooksack Valley coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "My kids fought hard. They never really gave up."
Sedro-Woolley's Jackson Price, a sophomore, scored 33 points, including five 3-pointers.
"Price is a very good player," Mitchell said. "He did a really good job tonight obviously."
Nooksack Valley was led by Brandon Gwinner's 19 points and Seth Taron's 11 points.
The Pioneers will play at Meridian on Wednesday, Dec. 12 to being conference play.
