Seven different Nooksack Valley girls' wrestlers placed second at the Judy Emry Invite Saturday, Dec. 8, at Foss High School.

Jessica Jose (100 pounds), Alberta Garcia (124), Toni York (137), Chloe Gardner (145), Kyle DeKoekkoek (155), Yasmin Cabrera (190) and Kandace O'Bryan (145) earned second-place finishes.

Amber Cramsey-Behnke (235) and Yazmin San Juan (106) placed third, and Abby DeKoekkoek (130), Alex Parson (118) and Julissa Samano (130) took fourth.

"We have several girls who this was their first match ever wrestling," Nooksack Valley girls' wrestling assistant coach Michelle DeKoekkoek said in a phone interview. "It was good to get ou of Whatcom County and see the competition elsewhere so we will be more ready for postseason."

Nooksack Valley competes in the River Ridge Girls Tournament next at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
