Whatcom Community College's Zach Stalin scored 17 points and hauled in a team-high 16 boards, but the Orcas fell to Centralia 61-57 in the final minutes of a non-league game Saturday, Dec. 8, in Centralia.
"We just dug ourselves into a hole in the first half and just never really got going," Whatcom coach Chris Schrimsher said in phone interview. "We had opportunities to win the game. It's tough when you feel like you were the better team. We just didn't play well tonight."
WCC rallied to tie the game late, but Centralia made a key steal and eventually sealed the win.
Ian Tevis scored 13 points, and Kyle Impero added 12 in the loss. The Orcas shot 34.3 percent from the field.
Whatcom plays Spokane at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the Bellevue Crossover tournament in Bellevue.
