The Meridian girls' basketball team (1-4) lost 50-21 at La Conner on Friday, Dec. 7.
"It was what you would expect after four games in six nights; we were fatigued," Meridian coach Don McMains said in a phone interview. "We didn't shoot the ball well and we were sluggish all around. Not to take anything away from La Conner, they came out aggressive and took charge right off the bat."
Abbi Rautenberg led the Trojans with six points.
"Abbi worked extremely hard on offense and defense and really battled," McMains said. "We just didn't have the juice to pull back. We paid the consequence of playing a lot of games early."
Meridian will play at Mount Baker on Saturday, Dec. 8, in a non-conference game.
