The Ferndale girls' basketball team held on to win 47-40 at home against Blaine in a non-conference game Friday, Dec. 7.
"They played a zone and doubled Linsey Honeycutt every time she had the ball and took her away," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "They only had one team foul in the first half and had a good, clean game plan. We just came out on top."
Ferndale (3-0) was led by Koral Weidkamp, who scored 16 points and Taylor Reid, who added 13 points and had five assists.
"Koral, in her first year, has played really well all three games this season," Ivy said. "She had a huge second half for us."
The Borderites (3-1) were led by Alexis McElwain, who scored 13 points and Mandy Hayes, who scored 12 points.
Blaine hosts Meridian on Monday, Dec. 10, while Ferndale will play at Anacortes on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
