FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH
TAYLOR V'DOVEC
Blaine
So., Forward
V'Dovec was a major part of the Borderites' postseason run last year, and as a freshman, she averaged 9.3 points per game and was good for double-digit rebounds nearly every time out. With another year to develop, she should become even more of a force in the paint.
MELISSA STADT
Nooksack Valley
Sr., Post
Stadt's 13.2 points per game last year ranked fourth among Northwest Conference leaders. With the three players above her graduated, she has a real shot to win a scoring title and help the Pioneers make a postseason run. She is one of many frontcourt talents in the NWC this season.
RACHEL ALBERT
Sehome
Sr., Wing/Post
Albert is one of the most gifted athletes in Whatcom County. She lost a lot of her supporting cast to graduation and will be called upon to handle the scoring load this season. Albert will still be in Bellingham after she graduates. She recently signed to play basketball at Western Washington University.
KAYLA TIEMERSMA
Lynden Christian
Sr., Post
Tiemersma has been an integral part of Lynden Christian's frontcourt the past two seasons, and with Jasmine Hommes gone, her play as a senior is even more paramount. Tiemersma was LC's second leading scorer last year with 7.3 points per game. She has the skill to be the Lyncs' top scorer this season.
TAYLOR REID
Ferndale
Sr., Guard
Reid's scoring numbers may not jump off the page, but it's her strong fundamentals that make Reid a constant in coach Mike Ivy's starting lineup. She can handle pressure, pass well, play great defense and put the ball in the hands of the Golden Eagles' many scorers.
