The Sehome wrestling team defeated Lynden 45-33 in a Northwest Conference meet Thursday, Dec. 6, in Bellingham.
"It was a really good, fun match with a lot of pins," Sehome coach Scott Schroyer said in a phone interview. "Neither team is at full strength, they're missing some guys from state football, but it was very intense and back and forth."
Sehome's Elliot Berger pinned Christiian Pash in 3 minutes 18 seconds in the 138 weight class. Jose Ramirez from Sehome pinned Archer Luginbill in 5:31.
"Jose kind of dominated his opponent and Elliot Berger did a nice job, too," Schroyer said. "For the beginning of the season I thought they competed and played hard. Even the people that lost played hard."
Lynden's Christian Mouat defeated Evan Villalobos 7-6 in what Schroyer called the best match of the night. Mouat escaped and reversed Villalobos in the final minute.
Both teams will participate in the Battle at the Border tournament starting Friday, Dec. 7, in Blaine.
