Arthurs, Sych named to NSCAA All-Americans second team

Western Washington University goalkeeper Jamie Arthurs and defender Brina Sych were second-team picks on the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Team.

Arthurs finished with a 0.39 goals against average, which led the nation. She had 16 shutouts, one shy of the NCAA II national record, and her save percentage of .882 ranked seventh nationally. She had 67 saves in 2,101 minutes and 50 seconds.

Arthurs, the 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, posted 39 shutouts during her four-year career. That tied her for sixth nationally.

Arthurs also was a second-team Daktronics All-American and was a NSCAA and Daktronics first-team West Region all-star.

Sych had five goals and five assists, and played a key role on a defense that allowed just nine goals in 23 games. During one stretch, the Vikings recorded 10 straight shutouts and had a scoreless string of 919 minutes and 29 seconds.

Sych was the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team NSCAA and Daktronics West Region all-star.
