The Mount Baker boys' basketball team defeated Blaine 61-53 in overtime in a non-conference game Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Mount Baker High School.

Blaine (1-2) took a 27-17 halftime lead but Mount Baker (1-1) was able to hold Blaine to 22 points in the second half while scoring 32 of their own.

"We were struggling on offense. I don't think we got a shot off in the first four minutes and had about 10 turnovers," Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview. "On defense we did a good job. In the third we found some offense and were able to cut their lead and had a run of 10 consecutive points to force overtime."

Dalton Munsell made a layup with 30 seconds left and the Mountaineer defense was able to hold off Blaine's final play.

In overtime, Munsell was able to score six points and help Mount Baker to the win.

"Both Dalton and his brother Ty had career high nights for points," Gray said. "My posts, Jacob Oiness and Conner Brandland also did a nice job rebounding and inside."

Dalton scored 14 and Ty scored 17 points.

Blaine will host Ferndale on Friday, Dec. 7, in a non-conference game, while Mount Baker travels to Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Dec. 6, in a non-conference game
