The Nooksack Valley boys' basketball team lost 67-51 at La Conner on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

"We came out and played them pretty tough for about three quarters," Nooksack Valley coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "They went on a run at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth and we just couldn't keep up."

The Pioneers (0-3) were led by Brandon Gwinner, who scored 14 points and Bret Rediger, who had 11.

"Bret had a great night," Mitchell said. "He held their leading scorer to 10 points and did a nice job all night defending him. He also had 11 points and had a great game."

The Pioneers will play at Bellingham on Friday, Dec. 7, in a non-conference game.
