Moehl completes run around Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa

Krissy Moehl, a former resident of Bow, recently ran a complete circuit around Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.

Moehl, who is the race director of the Chuckanut 50K, spent eight days running around the base of the mountain. Moehl was one of 10 runners to participate in the event.

Moehl ran 170 miles and endured a total ascent of more than 35,000 feet.

Mount Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet above sea level and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

WWU RUGBY TEAM GOES 3-3 AT NATIONALS

The WWU men's rugby team lost in the consolation final of the National Collegiate Rugby 7s Championships in College Station, Texas.

WWU fell to Davenport College (Mich.) 27-14. The Vikings had a 3-3 record at the 24-team event.

Outstanding performances were by Gavri Grossman, Matt Jensen and Robert Boenish, according to a WWU rugby press release.

PITCHING INSTRUCTION CAMP

Washington state hall of fame coach Jim Clem will offer personalized pitching instruction to groups of four at Janicki Fieldhouse in Sedro-Woolley.

Each session will include four dates, with the first session coming Dec. 5, 12, 19, 26. Participants can choose one of two times, 4-5 p.m. or 5-6 p.m. Cost is $150.
