Bellingham wins 78-45 over Australian team

Published: December 4, 2012

The Bellingham boys' basketball team defeated SW Metro Pirates from Australia 78-45 on Monday, Dec. 3, in Bellingham.

"It was a good game but I know we can play better. I was happy with our energy and effort tonight, though," Bellingham coach Ken Crawford said in a phone interview. "We finally found some consistency on offense, but I am pleased with our defense tonight. I think (SW Metro Pirates) are a good team and to hold them to seven and six in quarters was really good. We continue to emphasize rebounds and defense so we will continue to point to those things."

Bellingham was led by Kyle Redmond and Nick Zeegers, who each scored 17 points and Alex Check, who scored 13.

"Kyle and Nick had good games and Alex did well inside and outside offensively," Crawford said. "We had five guys in double digits and that is good to know we spread the wealth around a bit tonight. We need to keep that up and have a situation where everyone continues to contribute."

Bellingham is now 1-2 and will host Meridian on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
