The Lynden Christian boys' basketball team defeated Ferndale 64-43 in a non-conference game on Monday, Dec. 3, in Lynden.

Ferndale had the halftime lead 26-25 before being outscored 23-6 in the third quarter.

"Ferndale did an outstanding job of being prepared and ready and outworked us in the first half," Lynden Christian coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. "I was proud of how they responded in the second half. I think our press in the third quarter was a big factor, and we settled down and began to play instead of overthinking it."

The Lyncs were led by Isaac Reimer with 15 points and eight rebounds and Daulton Hommes with 15 points.

"I thought Hommes did a fantastic job coming off the bench for us," DeBoer said. "Reimer was solid and I though Nathan Meppelink did a great job defensively guarding Kendall Kelly."

Ferndale was led by Lukas Melton, who scored 10 points and Austin Honeycutt, who scored 10.

The Lyncs are now 1-0 and will play Santa Fe Christian in a tournament in Arizona on Thursday, Dec. 6, while Ferndale (1-2) will play at Blaine on Friday Dec. 7.
