The Meridian girls' basketball team was unable to overcome a poor shooting performance in a 43-36 non-conference loss to visiting Coupeville on Saturday, Dec. 1.
The loss dropped the Trojans to 0-2 overall.
"Neither team shot the ball very well," Meridian coach Don McMains said in a phone interview. "It was a tough game for any team to gain any rhythm."
The Trojans shot 11 for 49 in the game compared to Coupeville which shot 14 for 44.
Madison Holz led the Trojans with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Abbi Rautenberg had six points, eight rebounds and two assists for Meridian.
The Trojans host Bellingham on Monday, Dec. 3.
