Lynden ended its season last year with a loss to White River in the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lions received a chance to avenge the loss, but ended up falling 58-40 in a non-conference game Friday, Nov. 30, at White River.

Despite the loss, Lynden coach Rob Adams was pleased with how his team handled one of the top 2A teams in the state.

"I think they were 24-6 last year, and we knew heading down here they'd be one, two or three in the state," Adams said in a phone interview. "We knew coming down here, we could learn a bunch about ourselves, and it was well worth the trip. We were a bit disappointed by the outcome, but our kids played really hard again."

Kelsey Bouwman led the Lions with 10 points, Kaitlyn Mark scored seven points, and Stephanie Somers had six points and a team-high eight rebounds. Adams said he was pleased with Mandy Warner's play at guard.

White River all-state player Kennedy Holbert scored a game-high 25 points.

Lynden (0-2) plays at Anacortes next in a non-conference game at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
