Published: December 1, 2012

Lynden Christian guard Sally Vlas made a handful of key defensive stops late, and Kayla Tiemersma made two important baskets in the final minutes, as the Lyncs beat King's 49-46 in a non-conference game Friday, Nov. 30, at Lynden Christian.

King's trailed 29-22 at half, but took a three-point lead in the fourth quarter, before LC pulled away late. Tiemersma and Karley De Jager scored a team-best 14 points, Vlas scored eight and Courtney Hollander scored five points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

"I thought (De Jager and Tiemersma) did a really good job in the paint," Lynden Christian coach Curt De Haan said in a phone interview. "They were able to get some good looks for us."

King's was led by Savanna Hanson's 14 points.

Lynden Christian (2-0) plays Ferndale next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Ferndale High School.
