Impero leads WCC to 98-79 win over Highline

Published: December 1, 2012

The Whatcom Community College men's basketball team defeated Highline Community College 98-79 at home Friday, Nov. 30.

"We had some goals at the beginning of the game to defend and I think we did that," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "Offensively we wanted to use both sides of the floor and share the ball. With 24 assists, I think it shows we were trying to do that. I was proud of the team for doing that. Whenever you have 24 assists, you are working together."

The Orcas were led by Kyle Impero with 29 points, five rebounds, three steals and five assists. Ian Tevis scored 22 and Chris Tanis added 17 points for WCC.

"For Kyle's first game back from injury he did a great job," Scrimsher said. "Tanis also played really well. He was seven for 10 from the field and had seven rebounds and five blocks. He did was we needed him to and he was a threat defensively."

Whatcom will next play at South Puget Sound on Friday, Dec. 7.
