It's time to start putting together creations for the 17th annual Gingerbread House Contest, part of the Port of Bellingham's holiday festival.
This year, people can compete in a new category based on the theme "Uniquely Whatcom." Entries in that category should reflect what makes Whatcom County special. It's open to all ages and abilities.
Other categories are based on age or group affiliation.
Edible structures do not need to be a house. Entry forms must be turned in by Tuesday, Dec. 4. Creations must be delivered to Bellingham Cruise Terminal by the following day.
Entry forms and rules are online at portofbellingham.com/gingerbreadcontest, or call 360-676-2500.
Entries will be on display during the 22nd annual Holiday Port Festival at the terminal, 355 Harris Ave. The event includes music and dance performances, horse-drawn wagon rides, activities for kids, and Santa Claus. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 8; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 9.
