Christmas tree lightings, visits with Santa, community caroling and lots more get under way this weekend in Blaine, Ferndale and Lynden, starting Friday, Nov. 30. Highlights include:
-- "Twenty Years of Memories" is the theme for this year's Olde Fashioned Christmas celebration in the 12 historic log cabins of Pioneer Park in Ferndale. Hours: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Details: 360-384-6461, ferndaleheritagesociety.com.
-- Sinterklaas arrives in Lynden at noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at Lynden Pioneer Museum, 217 Front St. Lynden's holiday celebration continues at 6 p.m. Saturday with the Lighted Christmas Parade, with Christmas carolers and a display of lighted trucks, cars, floats, wagons, farm equipment and more. The 22nd annual procession begins at Fairway Center and travels along Front Street through downtown Lynden.
