The Squalicum boys' basketball team started off the season with a 70-66 road win over Cedarcrest on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
The Storm was led by Blake Youtsey with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
"Blake played really, really well and had a double-double," Squalicum coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. "Blake Harmon played well, too. He defended (Zach) Taylor and kept him to 28 points and really made him work for them. He played well on offense too."
Harmon added 15 points and led the team with four assists.
Squalicum had a 53-39 lead going into the fourth quarter, but Cedarcrest outscored Squalicum 27-17 in the fourth quarter and made a run to try and get the win.
"I think we did a nice job keeping our poise and finding a way to win," Dickson said. "As a young team, that was a good thing and I was really proud of the guys that stepped up. They played with confidence and I was really pleased with that."
Squalicum next plays Ferndale at home on Thursday, Nov. 30.
