In a recent front page story on a new taxpayer-funded Head Start program, the early childhood coordinator for the district made a startling confession. She said that the purpose of expanding the public school program to four year olds is to "become home" for them, because "anytime you have a child in their home environment, it feels safer for them to learn." It's an interesting choice of words, don't you think? She didn't say that she wanted to make them feel welcome, but rather to convince tiny children that a state institution is their new home environment. I suppose it naturally follows that the state workers will always be there to care for them and tell them right from wrong. When a state program becomes a comfortable home, you know the Democrats have succeeded in making another disciple. Looks like foundational indoctrination into this mindset cannot enough of a head start.
