Why can't they just call them Christmas trees? On the radio today, I heard two different commercials for "holiday tree lighting ceremonies." Can someone tell me what a "holiday" tree is? Because all of the "holiday trees" I've ever seen, look exactly like Christmas trees.
Is it really that offensive to call something what it actually is? Do they refer to a menorah as a "holiday candlestick?" No, they don't.
Strangely enough, I know of nobody that has ever been offended by someone calling a menorah a menorah. Nor have I ever been offended by someone referring to a holiday tradition, regardless of denomination, as what it actually is.
I was already disturbed enough to see Christmas decorations in the store in mid-October (Commercialism? What's that?), please quit calling them "holiday trees!"
