Thankful students respected veteran

Published: November 26, 2012

With my advancing age comes an understanding that I cannot, or will not, extend the energy to convince others to reason well -- especially in light of recent election results. But, I am just very puzzled when a lack of reasoning skills would lead to an unbelievable Nov. 20 letter to the editor from an "educator" at Kendall Elementary School.

What great reasoning skills led you to write what I found to be an unthoughtful, hateful letter - all cloaked in "peace and love." Shame on you.

When you can hear a pin drop in an audience of 600-plus high schoolers, you know there is honor and respect for a young veteran who has gone through hell, did what he had to do, and is willing to share it with us. I would just simply thank him.

I wish you could have heard his story. I can only hope that then your reasoning skills and "love" would have stopped you from writing such a letter. But , my guess would be -- no.
