Two men's golfers commit to play at WWU

Published: November 25, 2012

Two high school seniors, Chris Hatch from Kamiak High School in Mukilteo and David Fonua from O'Dea High School in Seattle, have signed national letters of intent to play men's golf at Western Washington University, beginning in the fall of 2013.

Hatch tied for eighth place as a junior at last spring's Class 4A state tournament, helping the Knights win the state championship.

A three-time Western Conference all-star, Hatch won the 2012 United State Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship qualifier and earned a spot on the 2012 Junior America's Cup team.

Fonua was third as a junior at the 2012 Class 3A state tournament and was fifth as a sophomore. He won the Metro League championship as a freshman and placed eighth in 2011 and 2012.

Last summer, Fonua finished third at the Seattle Amateur.
