Apologies, invitation to Canadian visitor

Published: November 24, 2012

To the Canadian letter writer, I received a similar note on my car (with California plates) when I moved to Portland in 2005. I was very disappointed not to be able to contact the person(s) who placed it there, not only to chide them for their little "hate-crime," but because my parents had both been born and raised in Portland and were both descended from Oregon pioneers! It would have been a good example of how ignorant and pointless regional prejudice is. On behalf of Bellingham, I apologize and assure you such folks are in the minority. I enjoy your lovely city very much, please continue to visit and enjoy mine!
