What's open Thanksgiving in Whatcom County

If you need a last-minute grocery trip on Thanksgiving or are having mocha withdrawals, several places are open at least part of Thursday, Nov. 22, to help you out. The below restaurants do not require reservations; others might so call ahead. Businesses listed here responded to a solicitation in The Bellingham Herald asking for information on businesses open on the holiday.

GROCERY STORES

Haggen: Barkley and Ferndale are open normal hours; Meridian will close at 8 p.m.; Sehome will close at 10 p.m.; and Fairhaven will close at 6 p.m.

The Markets: Closing at 7 p.m.

Cost Cutter: All locations closing at 7 p.m.

Food Pavilion: Closing at 7 p.m.

Everson Market: Closing at 7 p.m.

Albertson's: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fred Meyer: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Safeway: Regular hours.

Community Food Co-op: Closed.

Trader Joe's: Closed.

Everybody's Store: Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

RESTAURANTS

The Big Fat Fish Co.: 1304 12th St., Bellingham, open noon to 8 p.m. serving turkey or prime rib dinner for $18.95.

Curry House: 2034 Main St., Ferndale, open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Firehouse Café: 1314 Harris Ave., Bellingham, open 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for coffee drinks, pastries, savories and a roaring fire.

Horseshoe Café: 113 E. Holly St., Bellingham, open regular hours serving full menu. All-you-can-eat Thanksgiving dinner and slice of pie served 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $12.95; $6.95 for children under 12.

I Wana Moka: 3100 Old Fairhaven Parkway and the downtown Holly Street locations open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

McDonald's: All locations open until 4 p.m. except Hannegan and Bellis Fair, which are closed.

Shari's: 3904 Meridian St., Bellingham, open 24 hours.

Subway: Location at 1301 E. Sunset Drive, Bellingham, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Waterfront Seafood & Bar: 521 W. Holly St., Bellingham, open 8 a.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday. Offering turkey dinner for $9.25 and Texas hold-em tournament at 6:30 p.m. for a $21 buy-in.

The Woods Coffee: All locations except Boulevard Park and Lynden Marketplace at Safeway open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Birch Bay Square, Bakerview Square and Meridian Street locations open 4 a.m. on Black Friday.

STORES/ENTERTAINMENT

Silver Reef Casino: Open 24 hours. Thanksgiving buffet served 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for $24.95.

Skagit Valley Casino Resort: Open regular hours. Thanksgiving feast served 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for $16.50 with Rewards Card, $19.41 without.

Retail stores: Most closed Thursday but Kmart, Walgreens, Michaels and Big Lots! are among those open various hours. Some Black Friday store openings begin Thursday night.

Movie theaters: Open.

Blockbuster: Open.

Crazy Mike's Video: Limited hours Thursday; call 360-714-9636 to check.

Film is Truth: Closed.

Trek Video: Closed.

SERVICES

Garbage: Regular pickup for SSC and Nooksack Valley Disposal customers.

The Bellingham Herald: Regular newspaper delivery but offices closed. For missed papers, call 360-676-2660 between 6:30 and 10 a.m.
