My faith in the American electorate has been restored. I am heartened to see that most Americans rejected the Carl Rove/Koch brothers attempt to buy the election for Mitt Romney. In spite of millions of dollars being poured into the election by these individuals, Americans were smart enough to see through what I believed were lies. Instead, we voted for progress and equality and fairness and an appreciation of the great diversity of the people of this country. We voted for a highly intelligent and thoughtful man who will most likely make history among our greatest presidents: Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I am white and most of my family is white. In spite of rumors to the contrary, I know of plenty of white people who voted for Obama, and plenty of married women who voted for Obama. We are all in this together. It is time to get to work to restore this country and to stop the ludicrous tall tales because many people cannot handle having a president of color. This is a new day. It is time to move forward.
