Sehome and Squalicum may not have left the Class 2A State Tournament semifinals with a state championship, but the two Bellingham clubs were well represented on the Northwest Conference All-Girls' Soccer Team.
Six Mariners and six Storm players have earned all-conference nods. First and second teamers, as well as offensive and defensive MVP's and Coach of the Year selections were announced late Sunday, Nov. 18.
Sehome junior midfielder Emily Webster, who recorded a league-best 21 goals, has been selected offensive MVP, while Mariners senior keeper Rachel Albert, who helped Sehome post 14 shutouts, is the NWC's defensive MVP.
Squalicum coach David Kish, who led the Storm to its best finish in school history and a Northwest District title, and Sehome coach Andria Fountain, who led her Mariners to a NWC title and a state championship appearance, have earned a share of Coach of the Year.
Defenders Emily Russell and Alli Umbaugh and midfielder Hanna Tarleton represent Sehome as first-team selections. Midfielder Teya Mischaikov is a second-team choice.
Squalicum senior defenders and Storm co-captains Lauren Wallace and Andrea DeVere are first-team selections. Midfielder Julia DeVere is a first-team choice, and her partner in the middle third, fellow sophomore Michelle Saunders, is a second-team pick. Standout freshman Kim Hazlett, who recorded 19 goals, is a first-team choice at forward, and junior teammate Gracie Slater, who had a team-high 11 assists, is a second-team forward selection.
Add the Red Raiders' six selections and the city of Bellingham has claimed 18 of the 32 spots.
Bellingham keeper Hannah Jacobus, midfielder Hattie North and Larkyn Nelson are first-team choices, and defender Jade Thurston, midfielder Cashel Vincent and forward Kate Troutman are second-team selections.
Other first-team picks are Meridian defender Trinell Carpenter and midfielder Taylor Lunde, Burlington-Edison midfielder Mariah Swanson and forward Edie Breckenridge and Ferndale forward Kelli Bannerman.
Rounding out the second team defense is Ferndale's Carly Bannerman, Burlington-Edison's Riley Ohlsen, Anacortes' Lia Ferguson and Lynden Christian's Sara Dougan.
Mount Baker's Sarah Finger and Blaine's Olivia Olason are second-team midfield picks, and Lynden Christian's Courtney Hollander and Blaine's Liz Berry are second-team selections at forward. Blaine keeper Anna Hewitt is a second-team pick.
