Windshield note disturbs Canadian visitor

Published: November 19, 2012

I live in the greater Vancouver area, but have for a number of years have enjoyed visiting Bellingham for shopping and occasional restaurant meals. But yesterday, Nov. 10, I experienced the anti-Canadian sentiments that other visitors from Canada have reportedly experienced.

I parked my car in the lot of a small retail mall, and went off to visit stores and a coffee shop for about 90 minutes. Upon my return, I found a note on my windshield. The writer used a lot of profanity to complain about Canadians and invited me to return home quickly.

These events are upsetting and leave a negative feeling about Bellingham. Maybe the anti-Canadian attitudes that some Bellingham residents have are more prevalent than I had assumed.
