BIRCH BAY - The busy season is over for the main suspect in a string of summer burglaries in Birch Bay, after an investigation uncovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods in the man's Blaine home, police said.
Jacob S. Dezarn, 32, was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, first-degree possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm and first-degree trafficking of stolen property Friday, Nov. 9, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office has been investigating a series of burglaries in Birch Bay from May through August. The investigation led to Dezarn's home in the 7500 block of Leeside Drive in Blaine, where deputies recovered more than $8,800 worth of property stolen in 14 burglaries, thefts and vehicle prowls, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies also recovered a stolen firearm.
At the end of August, deputies arrested two 14-year-old boys who might be connected to some of the burglaries. The boys allegedly broke into Bay Center Market in June and stole cigarettes.
More arrests are possible in the cases.
