LYNDEN - Local residents who would like to be more involved with Lynden School District can apply to be a school board member.

Board member Gary Vis is leaving his position, and the district is looking for a person to fill his spot once he goes. Candidates must be registered voters and live within district boundaries.

Interested people should contact Superintendent Jim Frey for an application at 360-354-4443. Applications are due Dec. 10; the board hopes to select the new member by the end of December.
