BELLINGHAM - A woman beat her boyfriend over the head with a glass marijuana bong at a home early Sunday, Nov. 11, police said.
The couple was arguing at 1:30 a.m. inside their home in the 2400 block of Pacific Street when the argument boiled over, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.
The woman, 28, spat on her boyfriend, then hit him on the top of his head with an 8-inch-tall glass bong she was holding, Young said. She ran off before police showed up and remains at large. Police have probable cause to arrest her.
Officers saw the 31-year-old boyfriend had a cut to his head. They don't think he'll need stitches.
The bong's shape was "pretty straightforward," Young said, so it didn't have any sharp, ornate glass parts sticking out from it that could potentially turn it into a more dangerous weapon.
It's not clear if the couple had been smoking from the bong before the assault, but police believe they were drinking. The report was filed as a misdemeanor domestic violence assault.
The bong was impounded as evidence.
