Mike Baker will give a slide show Thursday on off-trail adventures to alpine lakes in the region at the next outdoor program for the Tacoma Mountaineers.
Baker, who has the nickname “Dayhike Mike,” will talk about adventures such as the Berdeen-to-Blum traverse in the North Cascades, the Lime Ridge High Route in the Glacier Peak Wilderness and trips in and around the Stone Kingdom in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
The program will begin at 7:45 p.m.
At 7 p.m., visitors will have the chance to learn about the programs and courses offered by the Tacoma Mountaineers. Members will be on hand to talk about offerings in climbing, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, family activities, first aid, sailing, avalanche training and more.
The free program will be held at the Tacoma Program Center, 2302 N. 30th St., Tacoma. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for anyone wanting to tour the new facility.
