Nationally ranked Western Washington University reached regular-season home perfection for the second time in three years as it swept Simon Fraser University, 25-6, 25-16, 25-15, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday, Nov. 10, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.

The Vikings, ranked No. 17 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll and No. 2 in the West Region rating, improved to 21-3 overall and clinched a tie for the GNAC title at 14-2. All of their nine home victories have been sweeps.

Simon Fraser fell to 4-19 overall and 1-15 in GNAC play with its sixth straight loss in a match that took just 64 minutes.

The home contest was the last of the regular season for three WWU seniors - outside hitter Marlayna Geary, setter Laurie Yearout and middle blocker Bailey Jones - who were honored in pre-match ceremonies.

Geary had a match-high 15 kills to become just the second Viking in school history to reach the 1,300 career milestone (1,303). The school record is 1,379 set by Meghan Evoy (2001-04).

Geary had just one error in 25 attempts for a .560 attack percentage, and outside hitter Kelsey Moore had nine kills and a .529 hitting percentage.

Yearout had 32 assists, seven digs, two service aces and two kills and libero Samantha Hutchinson had a match-high 15 digs.

The Vikings never trailed in either the first or second sets. Behind 12-11 in the third set, they scored 14 of the next 17 points to end the contest.

WWU has a winning percentage of .905 (114-12) at home after going to a SportCourt surface in 2000 and is 229-78 overall (74.6 percent) overall at Carver Gym.
