BELLINGHAM - The Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross has hired a new executive director.

Stacy Rice, the emergency services director and interim executive director, will lead the nonprofit, according to a Red Cross news release.

She replaces Maureen Enegren, who retired this past summer after 26 years with the agency - 15 of them in the head position.

Rice had served as emergency services director for three years. She was appointed interim executive director in August.

Red Cross volunteers provide assistance locally and internationally to disaster victims.
