What's closed in Whatcom County Sunday or Monday for Veterans Day

With Veterans Day falling on Sunday, this year, some places will be closed Nov. 11 while schools and government offices will close Monday, Nov. 12, to mark the holiday.

Most retail stores and restaurants will be open, though some places may have limited hours.

Here is a list of some key places and their status for Sunday and Monday. When in doubt, call ahead.

Government offices

Whatcom County offices: Closed both days.

Bellingham city offices: Closed both days.

Whatcom County library branches: Closed both days.

Bellingham Public Library: Closed both days.

Bellingham parking meters: Not enforced either day.

Services/businesses

Banks: Most are closed; call ahead to confirm.

U.S. Postal Service: Closed, no mail delivery Monday.

Garbage: Regular pickup schedule for SSC, Nooksack Valley Disposal customers.

WTA buses: Running on regular schedules.

The Bellingham Herald: Offices open Monday, regular newspaper delivery.

Opportunity Council: Closed.

YMCA: Open both days.

Movie theaters: Open regular hours.

Stores

Grocery stores: Most have regular hours.

Bellis Fair: Open.

Schools

Public schools: Closed.

Whatcom Community College: Closed.

Western Washington University: Closed.

Bellingham Technical College: Closed.

Northwest Indian College: Closed.
