Lummi places 11 on All-NWFL first team

The Lummi football team may be getting the week off, as it waits to see if its first-round opponent in the Class 1B State Playoffs will be Quilcene or Tahlolah, but on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the Blackhawks found out they had a league-high 11 players selected first-team All-Northwest Football League North Division.

The team is selected by the league's coaches.

On offense, Lummi had running backs Deion Hoskins and Dimitri Sampson, offensive linemen Eli Wall and Jeremy Spottedbear and receivers Austin Brockie and Dino Williams selected to the first team. The were joined by Neah Bay quarterback Josiah Green, running back Tyler McCaulley and offensive lineman John Reamer and Crescent offensive lineman Gene Peppard and receiver Derek Findley.

Defensively, Lummi placed Jared Tom at linebacker, Hoskins on the defensive line, Williams at defensive back and Sampson at defensive end on the first team. They were joined by Neah Bay linebacker McCaulley, defensive lineman Reamer, defensive back Leyton Doherty and defensive end Ezekiel Greene, Lopez defensive back Chase Schober and defensive end Jaise Poole and Tulalip defensive back DJ Kid.

Sampson was a three-time first-team selection as the Special Teams Player of the Year, while Lopez coach Larry Berg was selected Coach of the Year.

Lummi players earning second-team honors were Tom at quarterback, Sampson and Devin Cooper at linebacker, Brockie at defensive back and Wall at defensive end.

Offense

Quarterback - First team: Josiah Green (Neah Bay); Second team: Jared Tom (Lummi).

Running backs - First team: Tyler McCaulley (Neah Bay), Dimitri Sampson (Lummi), Deion Hoskins (Lummi); Second team: Eric Larson (Crescent), Edwin Kramer (Lopez), DJ Jidd (Tulalip), Matt Mohr (Clallam Bay).

Offensive linemen - First team: Gene Peppard (Crescent), John Reamer (Neah Bay), Eli Wall (Lummi), Jeremy Spottedbear (Lummi); Second team: Joe Maneval (Clallam Bay), Josh Sowders (Crescent), Dale Dawson (Neah Bay).

Receivers - First team: Austin Brockie (Lummi), Dino Williams (Lummi), Derek Findley (Crescent); Second team: Ezekiel Greene (Neah Bay), Leyton Doherty (Neah Bay).

Linebackers - First team: Tyler McCaulley (Neah Bay), Jared Tom (Lummi); Second team: Matt Mohr (Clallam Bay), Mike Zapien (Crescent), Cody Cummins (Neah Bay), Dimitri Sampson (Lummi), Devin Cooper (Lummi).

Defensive linemen - First team: John Reamer (Neah Bay), Deion Hoskins (Lummi); Second team: Kyle Jones (Tulalip), Eli Wall (Lummi), Daniel Jenison (Lopez), Gene Peppard (Crescent), Tyler McCaulley (Neah Bay).

Defensive backs - First team: Chase Schober ( Lopez), Dino WIlliams (Lummi), Leyton Doherty (Neah Bay), DJ Kidd (Tulalip); Second team: Derek Findley (Crescent), Austin Brockie (Lummi), Joey Monje (Neah Bay), Jeremy Rock (Clallam Bay).

Defensive end - First team: Ezekiel Greene (Neah Bay), Dimitri Sampson (Lummi), Jaise Poole (Lopez); Second team: Josiah Greene (Neah Bay), Eli Wall (Lummi).
