FERNDALE - Whatcom County residents who want to see their local pastor or police officer bust a move will have a chance at the Dance Bellingham Dance competition Saturday, Nov. 10.

The event, inspired by TV dance competition "Dancing with the Stars," runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Ferndale Event Center, 5715 Barrett Road.

This year, five local couples will compete, each in a different style of dance, ranging from line dancing to hip hop. Competitors include last year's winning couple, First Presbyterian Church Head Pastor Doug Bunnell, and his wife, Laurie, who owns a home staging business. Here are the other competitors:

- Roosevelt Community Church Pastor Kurt Ingram and his wife, Carol.

- Whatcom County Realtor Chet Kenoyer and his daughter, Gina.

- Bellingham Police Officer Jon Knutsen and his wife, Megan, who works at Dermatology & Laser Center Northwest.

- General surgeon Keith VanderGriend and his wife, Cindy, who teaches preschool.

The couples trained for two months with help from Bellingham's Dancing for Joy studio.?

Tickets cost $50 per person or $325 for a table of eight, and they can be bought over the phone at 360-676-8970 or online at dancebellinghamdance.com. Proceeds support Bellingham Young Life, which puts on the event.
