Deborra Garrett is defeating David Grant in her bid to become Whatcom County's first female Superior Court judge.
According to early results Tuesday, Nov. 6, Garrett led Grant 53 to 47 percent.
More votes remain to be counted, and the race hasn't been decided. The next results will be released Wednesday afternoon by the Whatcom County Auditor's Office.
Garrett, 61, works for a private law firm and is president of the Whatcom County Bar Association. Grant, 59, a former county deputy prosecutor, has been District Court judge since 2005.
Garrett or Grant will replace Judge Steven Mura, who is retiring after 20 years on the bench.
