Whatcom Transportation Authority proposes change to Blaine bus route

Published: November 4, 2012

BLAINE - Whatcom Transportation Authority is seeking public comment on a proposal to change one run of Route 55 so it meets the Bellingham-to-Blaine express on time.

If the change is approved, the 4:10 p.m. Route 55 bus from Blaine would go directly to Birch Bay Square via Interstate 5, rather than make stops in Birch Bay.

The bus would make those Birch Bay stops after leaving Birch Bay Square. The change would enable the bus to meet with the first afternoon run of the 70X.

The change would go into effect Monday, Dec. 3. Other trips on Route 55 would be unaffected.

Comments on the proposal will be accepted until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14. Call 360-715-4500 or write Rick Nicholson, director of service development, 4111 Bakerview Spur Road, Bellingham, WA 98226.
