The Lynden Christian volleyball team advanced to the tri-district tournament with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-9 win over South Whidbey on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Lynden.
"We really minimized our errors and were able to stop South Whidbey," Lynden Christian coach Kim Grycel said in a phone interview. "It was a big game and to take it in 3- I'm really proud of the girls. They played well."
The Lyncs were led by Hannah Wynstra with seven kills, Morgan Van Kooten with five kills and six blocks and Cassie Mulder with nine kills and two aces in the Northwest District Tournament win.
"Hannah played really well," Grycel said. "She had seven kills on 13 attempts, which is a really high percentange and Morgan's blocks were huge against their two girls in the middle."
With the win, Lynden Christian finished third in the Northwest Conference 1A district. The Lyncs will play against Cascade Christian on Saturday, Nov. 3, at King's High School.
