Sérgio Mendes and Brasil 2012 perform pop-inflected Brazilian jazz, specifically bossa nova crossed with jazz and funk, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.
Mendes' string of successes starts with his breakthrough hit "Mas Que Nada" (1966) and continues through "The Look of Love" (1968) and "Never Gonna Let You Go" (1983). Most recently, Mendes was nominated for a 2012 Academy Award for Best Original Song as co-writer of "Real in Rio" from the animated film "Rio."
