Former Sehome and Stanford University distance runner Jake Riley has been selected to a six-person team to represent the United States in the Chiba Ekiden, a relay marathon to be held Nov. 23 in Chiba, Japan.
Riley was a six-time All-American selection while at Stanford and the Class 2A individual state champion in 2006 while running for the Mariners.
He will join U.S. men's 10,000-meter record holder Galen Rupp, 2012 U.S. 25-kilometer champion Joseph Chirlee, eight-time NCAA Division II women's champion Neely Spence and recent U.S. 10-kilometer women's champion Chelsea Reilly on the team, along with University of Toledo runner Emma Kertesz, to run against international competition.
