Western Washington University had a season-high in goals as it defeated Saint Martin's University 5-1 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer contest Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, at the SMU Soccer Field.

Andrew Weishaar scored twice for the Vikings, who improved to 8-7-2 overall and 6-5-2 in the GNAC with their third straight win.

WWU's Austin Curtis opened the scoring in the seventh minute with his third goal, finding the net from 10 yards after stealing the ball from a defender. He scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in the upset of Seattle Pacific.

Three minutes later SMU tied the game at 1-1 as Dylan Gaydish hit the post with a shot and knocked in the rebound. The goal was his eighth of the year.

Weishaar put the Vikings ahead for good in the 21st minute, scoring from 20 yards on a cross from Gabriele Zaccagnini for a 2-1 halftime lead.

WWU scored three times during a 10-minute stretch in the second half.

The goals were by Justin Moore in the 65th minute, Matt Temple in the 72nd minute and Weishaar in the 75th minute, Sujinda Dangvan being credited with his team-leading fourth assist.

Moore and Weishaar now have a team-best seven goals each this season.

"We have really hit our stride offensively," said WWU coach Travis Connell. "Things are clicking really well for us and we have done a great job of executing over the last five games with 18 goals."

The Vikings end a five-game road stretch with their season finale at Simon Fraser at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.
