Backs Bellingham Home Fund

Published: October 29, 2012

In the next few weeks, Bellingham voters will have the choice to help thousands in our community by casting our votes in favor of Proposition 1, the Bellingham Home Fund. Endorsed by a wide range of Bellingham organizations, businesses, and individual citizens, this tax levy of 36 cents per thousand dollars of property will cost $6.89 per month for seven years on an average value home. (Go to bellinghamhomefund.org for details of the proposition.)

The Bellingham Home Fund will: create jobs by building hundreds of affordable housing units; weatherize and rehab existing affordable housing; provide loans to builders and low-income homebuyers, assist disabled veterans, seniors, and the long-term homeless with specialized services; and fund other cost-efficient programs. The City of Bellingham's Department of Planning and Development, experienced in managing similar federally funded programs, will administer the fund, along with an advisory committee, to carry out these proposals economically, sensibly and openly.

Let's talk with our friends about the Bellingham Home Fund and support the health and prosperity of Bellingham by passing Proposition 1 in November.
