One goal proved to be enough in a Class 1A Northwest District third-place girls' soccer game between Meridian and Blaine on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Civic Stadium.
Taylor Lunde's goal in the 29th minute was enough to give the Trojans (9-7-3) the 1-0 win. Haley Sandberg had the assist on the goal.
"It was a battle back and forth the whole time," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "Who was the last one standing seemed to be the way it was going to go."
Abbi Rautenberg was in goal for the shutout for Meridian.
Blaine dropped to 7-9-3 overall.
Both teams next play in a tri-district loser-out game on Tuesday against undetermined opponents.
