Published: October 25, 2012

The Squalicum volleyball team lost its final match of the year at Anacortes 25-12, 25-11, 25-23 in a Northwest Confernce match on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

"It was a tough match; they are a good team," Squalicum coach Julie Clift said in a phone interview. "We almost had them in the third set, which would have been nice. I think we played them really tough, though."

The Storm was led by Meghan Lowry with nine kills and 16 digs, Katie Alvord with seven kills and Tirsa Randall-Grutter with 24 assists.

"Kinsey Morris really played with a lot of heart and worked hard at the net and got four kills," Clift said. "She was our only senior and it was her last game."

Squalicum (10-4, 8-4 NWC) finished fifth overall and will miss the playoffs.

"We were excited to improve from last year when we only won three games," Clift said. "It is a small victory, though. We are bummed we missed the playoffs."
