The Nooksack Valley volleyball team came back being down two sets to zero to defeat Lynden Christian 21-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-12 in a Northwest Conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Nooksack.
"LC came out hard and attacked us," Nooksack Valley coach Jennifer Simmons said in a phone interview. "We were down 2-0 and didn't give up though. We took it one point at a time and were able to come back and win it in five."
The Pioneers were led by McKenzie Impero with 26 kills, 23 digs and four aces and McKinna Larson with 39 assists and five aces.
"Our two seniors, McKenzie and McKinna, really took control of the match and led the team," Simmons said. "We put ourselves in a great position for Saturday."
Nooksack Valley ended the year 8-6, 7-5 NWC and will play against Coupeville in the first round of the Class 1A Northwest District Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 27. Lynden Christian (6-8, 5-7 NWC) will play against Mount Baker.
